ODD JOBS is a performance-based work that Vancouver artist Lexie Owen has created using odd job requests to engage directly with audiences through maintenance labour. The Evelyn Exhibition is inspired by a job request from a local resident of the Burrardview neighbourhood, where Owen currently works as a Fieldhouse Residency Artist. In order to fulfill the job request, Owen has invited Vancouver artists to create artworks in response to the diverse practice of performance art legend Evelyn Roth. The exhibition will take place in and around the SiteFactory bus, which will be parked at the Burrardview Park Fieldhouse (545 N Slocan St) on Saturday July 28th, from 1-4pm.
Inside Out is a collaborative artwork by M.E. Sparks and Matthis Grunsky that reconsiders the trope of the artist’s studio, its depiction throughout art history, and its relevance amidst a “post-studio” condition currently dictated by prohibitive rental costs. Working in response to the mobile workspace of SiteFactory, the artists approach their shared experience of the studio as an unfixed, tenuous site of productivity and inactivity, creation and destruction, isolation and connection.
MOBILE BARNACLE CITY LIVE/WORK STUDIO is a site-specific installation created in the SiteFactory bus by Vancouver Interdisciplinary artist Laiwan, as part of Emily Carr University's LivingLabs Ten Different Things project series. Mobile Barnacle City will take place at three locations in the vicinity of Keefer and Columbia Streets in Chinatown from April 15th- 29th, 2018.
